What we help with
IT that keeps up with the tax calendar.
Accounting software is a real specialty of ours — our blog is full of fixes for EFTPS Batch Provider and QuickBooks that we wrote after solving them for clients.
Tax-season readiness
Before the rush we check PCs, updates, printers, scanners and remote access, so the first week of the season is about returns, not repairs.
Tax & accounting software
Help installing, updating and troubleshooting your tax and accounting programs, including EFTPS Batch Provider set-up and error fixes on single PCs and networks.
QuickBooks support
Help with QuickBooks Desktop, moving files between machines and planning a careful move from Desktop to QuickBooks Online when that makes sense for your firm.
Client data security
Multi-factor sign-in, encryption, antivirus and patching — the safeguards IRS Publication 4557 describes — set up and kept up to date.
Backups you can restore
Backups of client files and accounting data kept on-site and off-site, with restores tested so you know they work before you need them.
Email & phishing defense
Microsoft 365 set-up, email authentication and staff awareness, because fake IRS and client emails spike around filing deadlines.
Protecting taxpayer data
Your firm’s security plan, in plain English.
Tax preparers are covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule, which requires a written information security program. The IRS publishes practical guidance to help you build and follow one. We help with the technical side: putting the safeguards in place and keeping them running.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Your firm decides what its plan says.
A written plan
The FTC Safeguards Rule lists tax preparation firms as financial institutions and requires a written information security program. IRS Publication 5709 explains how to create one.
Safeguards in place
The Rule calls for steps like multi-factor authentication and encrypting customer information. We can set these up across your PCs, email and file storage.
IRS guidance
IRS Publication 4557, Safeguarding Taxpayer Data, walks through security recommendations for tax professionals. We use it as a checklist with you.

Questions
Accounting firm IT, answered.
Something else on your mind? Ask us — we answer in plain English.
Do you support tax and accounting software?
Yes. We help install, update and troubleshoot accounting and tax programs, including EFTPS Batch Provider and QuickBooks Desktop. Tell us which programs your firm uses and we’ll tell you honestly where we can help.
Does a small CPA firm really need a written security plan?
The FTC Safeguards Rule covers tax preparation firms and requires a written information security program, and the IRS says tax professionals need one. The IRS’s Publication 5709 shows how to write it. We can help with the technical safeguards it describes; for legal questions, ask your advisor.
Can you get us ready before tax season?
Yes. We check PCs, updates, software, printers, scanners, backups and remote access before the busy season so problems surface early, not on a deadline.
Can you help us move from QuickBooks Desktop to Online?
We can help you plan the move, check what does and doesn’t transfer, and set up the machines and logins afterward. Our guide below covers the main steps.
Where do you work?
We’re based in Los Angeles and support firms across Greater Los Angeles, including West Hills, Canoga Park, Calabasas, Northridge, Thousand Oaks and Oxnard. Most fixes happen remotely, and we come on-site the same day for emergencies.
